Exciting time for the State: Dravid

Last Updated 09 November 2009, 16:55 IST

“I really enjoy playing for Karnataka,” said Dravid, referring to increasingly frequent appearances for the State side. Along with left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi, the 36-year-old is the only acive player to have played with three generations of Karnataka cricketers.

“I’ve played for Karnataka with almost three generations of players like (Syed) Kirmani, Raghuram Bhatt, K Jeshwant, and then players like Sujit (Somasunder), Anil (Kumble), (Javagal) Srinath and Venky (Prasad).

“Now we have a whole new bunch of players coming through and it’s quite an exciting time for us. I haven’t seen some of the young boys before, this gives me a chance to see the talent and help them out,” he remarked.

Asked if four days were enough for Ranji matches, Dravid replied,”Four days for domestic cricket is enough. I don’t think we need to go five days in Ranji. If people prepare good wickets, then four days are sufficient. The onus should be on preparing good wickets like the one we played on in Meerut,” he pointed out.
