The incident came to light on Sunday. The chains use to lock the Someshwara temple were found broken. However, there was no theft. The police suspect that the thieves intended to loot the hundi.
In the back drop of this event, the hundi (cash box) was opened and the amount accumulated was counted in the presence of Muzrai Department officials Cheluvaswamy and Manjunath. Revenue Inspector Manjunath and staff were also present on the occasion. The hundi had Rs 59,665. Tahilsdar Jayamadhava has lodged a complaint with Mulbagal police.
