Days after his plea for reinstatement of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal was trashed, a Delhi lawyer on Monday filed a fresh petition in the Supreme Court seeking contempt action against the Uttar Pradesh government for her suspension.

A bench presided over by Chief Justice P Sathasivam listed the petition filed by advocate M L Sharma for hearing on Monday.

He sought contempt action against the state government for acting against the officer who, according to him, was obeying SC orders passed in 2009 and 2010.

His petition claimed that the apex court had directed the Centre and all state governments to demolish all unauthorised constructions, particularly in the form of religious structures, from all public places.
