Earlier in March 2009, Wipro had bagged country’s largest e-governance contract worth Rs 1,182 crore from ESIC.

The initiative called ‘Project Panchdeep’ is aimed at automation of paper work of ESIC and bring in transparency.

The project includes issuance of 20 million medical cards and computerisation of 144 hospitals, 620 insurance branches, 1,388 dispensaries/clinics and 51 regional offices across the country.

NComputing technology enables a desktop PC to be shared by 30 users with each user getting a full computing experience. The solutions includes both virtualisation software (vSpace) which helps to create virtual sessions inside a PC or server, and thin client devices that connect the users monitor, keyboard and mouse to shared computer.
“Wipro desktop platform with NComputiong devices and software deployed at ESIC hospitals will ensure effective and optimum utilisation of resources at minimum cost,” said Wipro Infotech General Manger Ashok Tripathy .

“The technology of Ncomputing will help growth of desktop virtualisation market in India and we may also use this platform for our e-governance and other projects,” he added.

ESIC will use NComputing’s L130 thin clients, over 31,000 of these will connect to Wipro desktop PCs which then will connect to the largest Cloud Computing in India at ESIC data centres, officials said.
