Rajyotsava awards presented to SKDRDP

The award was presented to Rajendra Kumar Heggade, brother of Dharmadhikari of Dharmstala and President of SKDRDP D Veerendra Heggade, by Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza. The presentation was preceded by  the felicitation in a traditional way. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza said that the social service meant service to the god. The award was not an appreciation, but a recognition to the service rendered to the people.

The rural project launched by Dr Heggade had lightened the lamps in houses of the poor, by uplifting them.  Helping the poor was the social service, which lead them to become strong to face social problems, he said.  ‘Mother Teresa is the great personality who found the god in service and believed that serving the poor and disabled is the way to find the god. Her life in service should be followed by everyone, to serve in a better way to enlighten other lives", Bishop said.  

Abhayachandra Jain, Congress whip in legislative Assembly, said that there was no other project which could be compared to the Dharmstala Yojane. K Rohini, District Information officer, said that the social work had its own reputation and recognition.

 B A Moideen Bava, Franchise of United Cricketers, presided over the function.
Dr H L Manjunath, P P Shanubhag, Udaya Kumar of SDGY were honoured at the programme. Journalist Kuntadi Dayananda Pai, Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva's Education Trust, Walter Nandalike, Chief Editor of Daijiworld.com and Grace Pinto, Director of Rayan International School, were presented the awards.  

Raymond D cunha, editor and publisher of Pingara weekly, welcomed the gathering. Orchestra by Anitha Samson and team and Yakshagana on Dharmastala Rural Development project, by Mandarthi T Hiriayanna Shettigar enthralled the audience.
