Bulls back in action after a breather

Last Updated 11 November 2009, 16:03 IST

After a solid surge in the preceding four trading session, equities took a break for consolidation on Tuesday.

However, bulls are back evidently with buying interest across all sectors, plus the take off on the divestment programme by giving nod to REC’s follow-on public offer and unveiling of GST regime draft. These contributed to Sensex rally over 400 points while Nifty closing above 5000 mark this day.

The market moved between positive and negative zone in early trade, while it surged in mid-morning trade and extending gains later.  All sectoral indices closed in green. Sensex at BSE rose 409.04 points or 2.49 per cent to close at 16,849.60 points.  The S&P CNX Nifty at NSE rose 122.25 points or 2.5 per cent to 5,003.95.
