Man dies as bike rams truck

 A youth was killed when the bike he was riding, collided head-on with a speeding truck on Hulimavu main road on Friday night. His colleague, the pillion rider, sustained severe head injuries in the accident.

Puneeth Kumar, 20, the rider and Krishnamurthy, 22, both employees of a water purifier company, were returning home after  work when the accident occurred. Krishnamurthy is being treated at a private hospital and his condition is stable. Hulimavu traffic police have registered a case.

Police said the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot. Minor fire in garage

A fire broke out in a car garage in Frazer Town in the early hours of Saturday.

Fire personnel, who were alerted at 6.33 am, rushed to the spot with two fire tenders. Six cars and a two-wheeler were gutted in the incident.

The garage is run by Asif, a resident of Frazer Town. Fire officials suspect an electrical short circuit or a car battery leak to be the cause of the fire. A case has been registered at Pulikeshi Nagar police station.
