HC incident upsets Governor

He was speaking after launching the official website of Karnataka Appellate Tribunal. The Governor said, “People come and go. But the institutions remain. Being successors of noble persons like Mahatma Gandhi we should emulate them”.

The Governor appreciated the Tribunal for technically updating by launching the website. Karnataka had always been in the forefront in the field of information and technology. Computerisation and e-governance had considerably reduced the menace of red-tapism and brought in transparency.

The website has been developed by National Informatics Centre. It consists of 15,000 judgements passed by the Tribunal.

The text of the SMS should begin with ‘S’ followed by a space and the case number (e.g., S 1123213). Within a few seconds the status of the case will be conveyed. The tribunal does not charge extra for the SMS service. KAT chairman A Ramaswamy said the KAT was the first judicial organisation in the country to introduce this service.
