Bihar may reward cops who nabbed Bhatkal

The Bihar government is likely to suitably reward the state police team that helped the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in nabbing Indian Mujahideen (IM) co-founder Yasin Bhatkal.

Breaking his silence over the arrest of one of the most wanted terrorists, Nitish said: “We are not in a hurry to take credit for the arrest. What we have done was our ‘kartavya’ (duty). The Bihar police have done their job in a very professional manner.

“If a proposal is moved by the DGP to reward the cops involved in Bhatkal’s apprehension, we will consider it.” Nitish’s reaction came after the BJP made incessant charges that Bhatkal was not quizzed by the Bihar police ostensibly because Nitish had his minority vote-bank in mind.

“They made Ishrat Jahan their daughter (since she was born near Patna), and chances are they may treat Yasin Bhatkal like their ‘damad’ (son-in-law),” Sushil Modi, the former deputy chief minister, had said two days back, peeved over Bihar police’s failure to get custody of the IM co-founder.
