HC restrains KFA, Mallya from selling assets

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday restrained Kingfisher Airlines (KFA), UB Holdings Private Limited and their chairman Vijay Mallya from either transfering or alienating assets.

State Bank of India and 14 other banks had moved the court seeking to restrain the firms, which owe them Rs 6,200 crore, from selling or transferring assets. An appeal was filed before the debt recovery tribunal (DRT) to recover the dues.

After the DRT refused to grant any interim relief, the banks moved the court. The matter came up before Justice A S Bopanna. Senior counsel Nagananda, appearing for the banks, said the DRT has been delaying the matter when an order was urgently required.

Justice Bopanna directed UB Holdings, KFA and Mallya not to alienate any of their assets or transfer them.
