'We had a crazy time'

The promos of the Bollywood movie Grand Masti are downright cocky and suggestive. You have to read between the lines and expressions to understand what Grand Masti is about.

The trio — Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivadasani — who were last seen together in Masti have teamed up again, after a long gap of nine years.

Aftab points out that this film comes as a huge challenge to him, after his last appearance in ‘1920’ which saw him do something truly different.

Grand Masti traces the life of three married but frustrated men who try to find some masti outside their otherwise boring marital life. “We do and say a lot of things that we find awkward doing and saying but we had to do it with a lot of conviction. Yes, the film is all about extramarital affairs — a topic that is still taboo to talk about but nevertheless it’s a bold movie with very bold actions,” Aftab tells Metrolife ahead of the release of the film. Aftab feels his role in the film has brought out another facet of his personality.

“There’s double meaning throughout the film and we have clearly stated in all our promotional tours that it is an adult film. All said and done, it is clean comedy and I am sure the audience won’t have a relief from laughter,” shares Aftab.

The movie also has Vivek Oberoi and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead roles and Aftab notes that the three of them have come a long way since their last project together. “The three of us share a great chemistry. It was truly a challenge for each of us to manage both our wife and mistress in the movie. We never lost any chance to have our own little fun. We had a crazy time together on the sets and off it as well,” says Aftab.

Aftab says his character required no extensive preparation. “Just going with the flow. My character is similar to the one in Masti and we have largely stuck to the script. The movie is simply wild and crazy,” he shares.
