DC directs officials to clear illegal layouts

 The deputy commissioner of Bangalore Urban, G C Prakash, has directed sub divisional magistrates, tahsildar and gram panchayat officials to remove illegal layouts in and outside the City.

In a circular issued about two months ago, he directed the authorities to identify all the government lands such as ‘gomala’, ‘gundu thopu’, ‘kharaab land’, tank bed and burial ground, and submit a detailed report. The officers are told to serve notices on whoever formed illegal layout, hold hearing and scrap them if they are illegal.

The DC has instructed them to act against all the officials, public representatives, the gram panchayat presidents, members or the registration officers who are found
guilty.

Registering properties

While registering Grama Thana properties, chief executive officers of taluk panchayats must sign on the documents.

But, in many cases, the authentication papers did not have their signatures, he said, warning such officers of disciplinary action.
