Farmers to get tablet PCs

Minister for Science and Technology S R Patil announced on Sunday that the government would provide tablet PCs to 100 farmers of Bagalkot district on a trial basis. This would help them get information on agriculture, health, education and other issues.

Tablet PCs will be distributed to farmers throughout the State, based on the response to the pilot project. 

The minister was speaking at a function at a city college. He said the children of farmers should update themselves about opportunities in the education sector and know about facilities in various schools and colleges.

Software will be installed in the tablet PCs so that the farmers and their children get to know about facilities in the various hospitals at the click of a button.
