<p>Hectic lobbying is on to become chairpersons and members of 12 standing committees of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), to be formed on September 16.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The district unit of BJP, which has majority in the BBMP Council, will hold a meeting in a day or two to decide the names of the members of the standing committees. They will also take the District In-charge Minister, Ramalinga Reddy, into confidence before selecting the names.<br />After Katte Sathyanarayana became the Mayor of Bangalore, the standing committees were supposed to be constituted immediately. However, even after a week, the process has not started.<br /><br />Sources in the BJP said that many corporators are aspiring to become chairpersons of the committees such as Geetha Srinivas Reddy, B V Ganesh, N R Ramesh, Shantha Kumari, B R Nanjundappa, A H Basavaraj, M C Srinivas, K Ravindran, Geetha Vivekananda, A L Shivakumar and K Latha. The Congress corporators may not become the chairpersons but they will have a good say in the committees given the fact that the party is in power in the State.</p>
