A 30-year-old lawyer, who is the cousin of former minister for higher education, C T Ravi, contacted his family members on Thursday, hours after the latter lodged a police complaint, saying he had gone missing.

Ravi lodged a complaint at Malleswaram police station in the morning, saying Akshay had been missing since Tuesday afternoon.

Complaint

Akshay left his Malleswaram 8th Cross house for work on Tuesday and had not returned since, the former minister stated in the complaint.

By evening, however, the family claimed Akshay had been traced and he himself contacted them. According to Ravi, Akshay called up his mother, saying he was at a friend’s house at Tiptur in Tumkur district.

“He was on his way to Hassan on Tuesday and his car had broken down. He then went to see his friend in Tiptur,” Ravi quoted Akshay as saying.

Sandeep Patil, DCP (North), said an FIR had been registered and the matter would be investigated.
