<p>A 55-year-old man, who was returning to City after immersing the ashes of his mother in River Cauvery via Srirangapatna, was killed in an accident along with his daughter on Monday morning.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The deceased have been identified as Bhaskar and his daughter Divya (24). Shantha, the wife of Bhaskar sustained grievous injuries in the accident. <br /><br />The family was residing at Subramanyanagar near Rajajinagar. The accident occurred after their car collided head-on with another car coming in the opposite direction near Ramanagar on Mysore Road. Bhaskar was driving the car.<br /><br />All the three had been to Srirangapatna to immerse the ashes of Padmavathi, the mother of Bhaskar, who passed away recently. The accident occurred after Bhaskar lost control over his vehicle as he drove over a road hump. <br /><br />According to police, the car crashed into the road median and rammed into another car coming from the opposite direction killing Bhaskar and Divya instantaneously.<br /><br />Shantha was shifted to Rajarajeshwari Medical Hospital where she is being treated. According to police, she is out of danger. <br /><br />The three passengers in the other car — H M Nandakumar, former president of Madikeri City Municipal Council and his two friends — suffered minor injuries. Ramanagar police have registered a case.<br /><br />Clerk hacked to death<br /><br />An employee of a private company was hacked to death by a gang of assailants in front of his office on Monday evening. <br /><br />The deceased has been identified as Deepak, 30, a clerk at Polymers Private Limited in Obalappa Gardens on KR Road. <br /><br />Sources in the police said three men wielding lethal weapons emerged from an autorickshaw and attacked Deepak as he came out of his office at around 5.45 pm. <br /><br />The assailants stabbed Deepak repeatedly and hacked him to death with a machete. The gang fled the scene in the auto.<br /><br />Deepak’s colleagues rushed rush him to a private hospital nearby, where he was declared dead on arrival. Banashankari police have registered a case of murder.<br /><br />H S Revanna, DCP (South) told Deccan Herald that the motive for the murder was yet to be ascertained. Deepak was a resident of Annapoorneshwari Nagar, Nagarabhavi and had married in April. <br /><br />Plumber run over<br /><br />A plumber was killed after a speeding truck rammed his two-wheeler and ran over him on Subramanyapura Main Road Monday morning.<br /><br />Muruga, 23, a resident of Uttarahalli, was on his way to work when the accident occurred. The truck driver fled the spot, abandoning the vehicle. KS Layout Traffic police have registered a case.</p>
