The campus of BMS College for Women was bustling with laughter and activity recently, when the former students of the college reunited for their alumni meet Sammilana.

The programme was organised in connection with the golden jubilee celebration of the college. The students and alumni participated actively in the wonderful programme. More than 250 former students of the college gathered at the campus and shared their experiences with the current students. Alumni from the batch of 1964 to 2012 were a part of the meet.

The programme started with an invocation and soon after, the alumni shared memories and anecdotes with the crowd. Games and cultural programmes added to the fun and Suvarnamma, an alumnus from the batch of 1976, performed a solo dance. Shobha Vishwanath from the batch of 1972 and Ashika and Hemalatha from the 1970 batch presented solo songs.  Divya from the batch of 2001 sang a folk song and Sindhuja from the batch of 2004 helped in conducting games to entertain the gathering.

The alumni took part in different games like ‘passing the parcel’ and ‘bursting the balloon’. Along with celebrating and catching up with each other, the alumni also came up with plans for future meetings.

Sindhuja, who attended the meet, was thrilled to meet her friends after a gap of many years. “I was so excited to meet all of them. The moment I came to know that an alumni meet has been organised in the college, I kept myself free and got involved in making it a successful and happy occasion for everyone. All of us were quite nostalgic to see our friends after a span of so many years. It was one of the happiest moments of my life and I am touched with the love that I have been showered with,” she says.

Members of the alumni meet couldn’t wait to catch up with each other. While some of them discussed their good old days in college, others enquired about their other classmates. Srilatha, another member, was happy to see that so many of her friends had turned up. “It was surprising to see so many of them turning up at the event. I met friends whom I have not been in touch with for years. Thanks to social networking websites, keeping in touch with old friends is not as difficult as it used to be, but seeing them is a different experience altogether,” she sums up.
