Director to Rangayana Mysore will soon be appointed, said, Minister for Kannada and Culture Umashree.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, during her interaction with the artistes at Rangayana, here on Friday, she said, Rangayana which has been without a director for the last five months now, will be benefitted with an “able person” soon. She however remained tight lipped on the delay in the appointment and said that the process was on and that it would be completed soon.

She said that directors of other repertories and chairpersons of academies will also soon be announced.

Commenting on the problems highlighted by the Rangayana artistes regarding their pension, PF and others, she assured that measures will be taken to redress the problems.
Umashree watched the rehearsal of the play ‘Sadarame’ directed by Puttannaiah for the Navarathri Utsava. She said that she was happy to note that “liveliness and enthusiasm” had been restored back in the repertory with the return of the artistes from Shimoga and Dharwad.  Even though her visits to Mysore in particular had been rare during her tenure as a theatre artiste, she said that she had performed in different places of the region.
