Lokesh, 32, lecturer and administrator at Kuvempu First Grade College of Kuvempu Trust, has been hospitalised, after he was allegedly attacked with cudgel by Praveen, a former BBM student of the institution in Jayalakshmipuram police limits on Friday.

According to Lokesh, he was on his way to the college on his two-wheeler around 9.10 am when Praveen riding pillion on another vehicle, attacked him with a cudgel on his back. As Lokesh fell from his vehicle, Praveen feld the spot. Passersby rushed Lokesh to a hospital.

He is said to be out of danger.

In his statement to the police, Lokesh said the college had recently issued transfer certificate (TC) to Praveen, a second year BBM student and a resident of Hinkal. He is said to have behaved in an unacceptable manner on several occasions, causing embarrassment to the institution.

He had even ransacked the college premises once. His parents too had been summoned  by the college authorities, but Praveen did not change his ways. With no option left, the college had issued a TC to him after he completed his second year degree. Subsequently, he had joined Jnanadeepa College in Kuvempunagar. Kumari, principal of Kuvempu First Grade College, corroborated Lokesh’s statement.
