JOIN USThe Urban Development department will be conducting a review of all municipal corporations once every three months.
Speaking at the inauguration of a workshop on the Rajiv Awaz Yojana (RAY), Urban Development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said it was imperative that the municipal
corporations start realising their responsibilities.
“Taxes are not being collected properly, be it property tax or cess. Implementation of projects is not being done effectively and it appears that we are lagging in a lot of aspects when compared to our neighbouring states. To ensure that the corporations follow up their work, we will be reviewing the performance of each municipal corporation, at least once every three months,” said Sorake.
The top brass of the department has gone to Delhi to get pending files pertaining to RAY cleared from the Ministry of Housing Development.
