Ramp lights up with moms-to-be

Last Updated 24 September 2013, 13:32 IST

Along with loads of happiness, pregnancy also brings in anxiety and stress to the mothers-to-be.

In order to ward away all the doubts that may occur during pregnancy, ‘Cherishmaternity.com’, a leading brand in the maternity space, in partnership with Dr Malathi Manipal Hospitals, conducted ‘My Beautiful Bump 2013’, a fashion show, beauty pageant and panel discussion at the MLR Convention Centre recently.

The day began with a fashion show that revolved around the theme of air, water and fire.
Young mothers-to-be came along with their husbands, family and friends. The participants were very excited about the entire pageant and said that they felt like a queen that day.
“When you are expecting, you feel like you will miss out on all the other opportunities. But at this event, we got to feel like beauty queens and even had a gala time with our families,” said Archana, one of the participants.

Soon after the preliminary round, the event turned its focus to the panel discussion that revolved around conception, natural birth and breast feeding.

The panel discussion included Dr Jyotsna Madan, Dr Bharathi Rajanna, Dr Gayarti Karthik and Anindita Sengupta.

It was conducted by Vasanthi Hariprakash. The young parents-to-be had many questions for the panelists too.

Some of the questions were related to back pain, on having a normal delivery, depression etc.
The highlight of the day was the final round of the beauty pageant. It had all the participants face a question-and-answer round.

The judges — Dr Bharati, Kannada actor Santosh, fashion choreographer Manis Dev and radio jockey Sindhu — posed different questions on motherhood and pregnancy.

Each of the contestants confidentially answered the questions making it very difficult for the judges to pick a winner.

In fact, there was a tie-breaker round between two participants — Suherita and Tejaswini.
Ultimately, both of them bagged the title of ‘Cherish Queen’ and the big prize. Shreya was crowned ‘Miss Cherish Enchanting’, Sweta was crowned ‘Miss Cherish Beautiful’ and Rashmi was ‘Miss Charismatic’.

“It was my husband who had registered my name for this contest, I had no clue about it. But I am glad I came here as I really enjoyed myself and also learnt a lot through the panel discussion,” said Suherita. While her husband Pushpen, added, “The entire event was well organised and it was the perfect entertaining afternoon. I am glad my wife got a wonderful platform to showcase her talent.”
