There are 12 Dalit families living in old Aldoor Dalit colony since many years. The colony comes in Aldoor GP limits .

Surfaced road has been laid from Hosalli to Devaramma and Maladamma temples, which are about 2 kms away from Hosalli but road to this colony, which is only 0.5 kms away has been left unpaved.

The only road to this colony is a narrow lane filled with loose mud. There is no other alternate route to reach the colony and with this local residents in general and school students in particular are compelled to wade their way in knee deep loose mud.

There are over 20 school and college students living in the colony who have to manoeuvre this route everyday. Since no vehicles can ply on this road, in case of emergency, the residents have had the experience of carrying the ailing person on a hand made stretcher on shoulders.

The residents of the village have been urging the local governing bodies to provide surfaced road, over the last 3 decades. But this simple and basic demand has been falling on deaf ears persistently.

“We had even met the Deputy Commissioners. Responding to this, DC had asked the GP Secretary to inspect the road. The Secretary after inspecting the road, submitted a false report to the DC saying that the road does not come under GP blue print,” says Puttaraju, a resident.

The residents had submitted yet another memorandum to DC last week but so far nobody has come to inspect the place, villagers informed and warned that if the problem is not solved within next one week, then they will stage a hunger strike outside Deputy Commissioner’s office.
