A public interest litigation was filed in the High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday, challenging the grant of 36,000 sq ft of land to Ramakrishna Mutt in Mysore.
The Division Bench headed by D H Waghela, which heard the petition, observed that at the outset the petition seemed to have been filed with malafide intentions.
Arguing on behalf of the Mutt, senior counsel S N Nagananda said that the petition has been filed to protect a coaching class, run on the land being granted. The court directed the petitioner to explain why the court should not levy a heavy fine on him.
