Official, BJP leader get 'pepper' treatment

Jayappa Reddy, a local BJP leader, in his complaint to the Hebbal police, alleged that his neighbour Gowramma had encroached upon a public road in Cholanayakanahalli. When a BBMP official tried to evict her from the site, she threw pepper spray on him.

The woman reportedly attacked the complainant too with pepper powder as she charged that he had instigated the civic agency to carry out the operation.

Police said the site measured 30x50 square feet and the BBMP had contended that Gowramma had encroached upon a part of the public road.

Theft from parked cars

Unidentified persons damaged two cars and fled with valuables worth Rs 50,000 near Java City on Lavelle Road on Saturday.

Police said Padma Prasad of Basavanagudi had come to pick his relatives from Java City, when the accused broke the rear window panes of the car with a stone and made away with a diamond ring, Rs 2,000 cash, some documents and keys.

Within minutes of this incidence, the culprits broke the rear window panes of another car belonging to Prashanth parked in front a house in the same area. However, they failed to collect any valuables as Prashanth had kept nothing inside. The incident came to light when Prashant returned from Java City. He has reported the crime to the police.
