The young lady spoke about her experiences at the event, and her excitement of being a part of one of the most well-known couture weeks in the country.

“It was something that I had been planning for a while,” she exclaims. “You have to apply for membership, and there is a board that chooses you.” Nimirta feels that the fashion week in Delhi is the most important one. “Many international buyers come there, and showcasing a collection there helps in getting sales,” she adds.

About her Spring Summer 2010 collection, she says, “The whole look was based on vintage designs, especially from the 1940s. The collection consisted of mainly cocktail dresses and evening wear, with the main colours being silver and pink.” The fabrics used for the collection included a range of soft textures like chiffon, satin and cotton silk.

The designer admits that being a newcomer, she was quite nervous to showcase her collection. “But everyone was so supportive, and models like Jesse (Randhawa) and Bhavana were extremely sweet.” In September, Nimirta showcased her collection in Kolkata, and now in Delhi. So do we see Mumbai on the cards next? She laughs, “Delhi is the biggest it can get.”

And she admits that her clothes were liked by all. “The response was really good,” she exclaims. Now the designer is preparing for the preview of her Autumn Winter 2010 Collection. It will be held in Chennai in December. The collection consists of winter clothes for the Christmas and New Year season,” she says. She also plans to expand her line in Delhi and Mumbai. “After that, I will start preparing for the new season,” she signs off.
