Equipment meant for disabled seized in Tarikere

The reason for seizure is said to be - “not informing the MLA and officials concerned about the equipment.”

Speaking to Deccan Herald, District Youth Congress President Sachin Meega said “the equipment were to be distributed to the beneficiaries through a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with the help of State government. Union Minister for Social Welfare Meera Kumar has sent it directly to the taluk headquarters. We were making plans to distribute to the beneficiaries in the presence of officials and elected representatives. However, the raid was conducted with a bad intention.”

Government criticised

State government has failed to implement the pro-people programmes of the Centre effectively, said former minister and MLA K J George.

Speaking at the taluk block Congress membership drive campaign, he said Congress has a bright future.

District Congress Committee (DCC) President M L Murthy said the Bharathiya Janatha Party MLAs are involved in corruption by taking contracts in false names. Block Congress President R Manjunath presided.
