Dist admn takes steps for peaceful bundh today

Pvt bus operators to stay off roads while KSRTC buses will ply as usual

Though Somwarpet taluk Coffee Growers Association has opposed the bundh call, the bundh is expected receive good response at Madikeri and Virajpet taluks.

However, schools and colleges have not given holiday officially. Depending on the situation, school heads have been directed to take a decision. Even PU Colleges have not declared holiday. However, the PU examination have been postponed. The degree examination at Field Marshal K M Cariappa College will be held as per the schedule. Police security have been clamped in the first grade college.

The organisers have clarified that the bundh will not affect the students who will attend the examination.

However, private bus owners in Madikeri and Virajpet taluk have decided not to ply the buses. This will cause inconvenience to the students. The KSRTC bus will ply as usual, said KSRTC depot Manager H P Lachmegowda.


Tight security

For the security purpose, four KSRP and 14 district Armed police platoons will be deployed in the district, SP Manjunath Annigeri told Deccan Herald.

Police vehicles will be moving in Madikeri and Virajpet. Except two to three personnel, all other personnel in police stations will be deployed for security purpose.
District Chamber of Commerce and Industry will remain neutral to the bundh. Virajpet Chamber standing committee has expressed its support to the bundh, said President Kashi Kaverappa.

The sale of liquor has been banned in the district between 6 am and 7 pm on Monday.
