Textile firm Arvind Limited on Thursday said Ralph Lauren Corporation USA (RLC) has filed a case in a US District Court against it and US Polo Association, USA (USPA) alleging breach of agreement.

Ralph Lauren has alleged breach of agreement between Ralph Lauren Corporation, USPA and Arvind Limited due to non-compliance in respect of disclaimers to be printed on USPA products sold in India, Arvind Ltd said in BSE filing.

Arvind Ltd' subsidiary, Arvind Lifestyle Brands ALBL), has licence to manufacture and market USPA branded products in India.

Arvind Ltd said that Ralph Lauren first issued a notice for arbitration to be held in India against it and USPA and the company was successful in obtaining a temporary injunction against the commencement of the arbitration from the jurisdictional court in India, which injunction is currently operative.

"Unfortunately during the pendency of the said injunction, Ralph Lauren has instituted the suit in New York," Arvind Ltd said.

Based on the legal advice received, both Arvind Ltd and ALBL are confident of their strong position and believe that they will be able to successfully defend this matter as there is no breach of agreement as alleged by RLC, it added.
