Day one highlights

* During his unbeaten 177 runs, Rahul Dravid completed 11000 runs in Test cricket, thus becoming the fifth highest run accumulator in Tests.  He joined Sachin Tendulkar (12777), Brian Lara (11953), Ricky Ponting (11345) and Allan Border (11174).

* The century was Dravid's 27th Test century and his second against the Lankans.  His only century against them earlier was 107 runs at Colombo (SSC) on February 24 1999.

* Dravid also completed 1000 runs against the Sri Lankans to join Tendulkar (1412) and Mohd Azharuddin (1215) as the leading run-makers against the Island nation. Pakistan’s Inzamam- ul-Haq leads the international chart, having scored 1559 runs against the Sri Lankans from 20 Tests.

* Skipper Dhoni's 110 was his second Test century, the first (148) having come against Pakistan at Faisalabad on January 23, 2006.

* In the course of his century Dhoni also completed 2000 runs in Test cricket playing in his 38th Test and 60th innings.

* The 385 runs amassed on the first day is the highest ever by India on opening day of a Test match.  It surpassed previous highest score of 372 runs against South Africa at Bloemfontein on November 3, 2001.
