Jyoti Nivas College (Autonomous) recently held its fifth annual convocation for the batch of graduates from the 2012 academic year. The event started with the lighting of the lamp in accompaniment to the college choir’s soulful rendition.

In her welcome speech, principal Sr Elizabeth spoke about the need for the students to act as ambassadors of the college and work for society and the people. She advised them to set out on new adventures and be an example for others. She also mentioned the need for the youth to stand for the truth and usher in an era of justice at a time when corruption has entered all areas of society.

Next, the rankholders belonging to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses were felicitated. Shreya Vashisht, the rankholder from BA department, said, “I’m grateful for the amazing experience, supportive teachers and freedom that my alma mater has provided me with.” Others like Divya R, the MA rankholder, shared her formula for success with fellow batchmates.

It helped me to become more confident.” The students then received their degree certificates and took an oath to use their education to the best of their ability and give back to the society.
