Last Updated 15 October 2013, 18:28 IST

Four drunk youths assaulted a head constable attached to the Indiranagar police station late on Monday night.

Abhishek Singh Yadav, Mamata, Rita from Delhi and Akshay from Dharwad spent the evening at Toit Pub in Indiranagar. They left the place at around 11 pm, but returned after some time and demanded that the pub serve them liquor again. But the employees at the pub refused and told them that the deadline was over.

The four youths then entered into an argument with the employees of the pub, who immediately alerted the police. Head constable Bore Gowda, who arrived at the spot, tried to pacify the group, but was assaulted by one of the girls.

“I was not even aware of the matter. When I tried to pacify them, one of the girls hit me on my chest and later broke my glasses. She hurled abuses in Hindi and the rest of them joined and started manhandling me,” Gowda said.

He alerted other policemen of his station, who arrived there and arrested all the four.

They were produced before the 10th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court, after booking them for assault. The youths have been released on bail. According to sources, they are in the 25-28 age group and work for a private company. One of the girls is a trainee in a bank. They are residents of Ganga Nagar and HRBR Layout.
