JOIN USTwo youths drowned in the Challahalli lake near Rajanakunte on Wednesday evening.
A group of 15 to 18 boys were playing on the banks of the lake, when two of them, who went close to the water, slipped and fell into it, the police said.
Finding their friends unable to get out of water, the other boys panicked and ran to get people nearby. The villagers rushed back with the boys and the police were also informed.
By the time the police reached the lake, however, the villagers could fish out the body of only one boy. The assistance of fire and emergnecy services personnel was sought, but darkness prevented them from carrying out the operation, added the police.
The boys were aged about 20 years. While they were identified as Nagesh and Thyagarajan, the police could not confirm the names or other details about them.
