JOIN USThe Cabinet decided to constitute a Tank Development Authority with power to take action against encroachment.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said the Authority would have power to protect 28,000 lakes in the State. As many as 6,000 lakes have been lost because of silt, urbanisation and encroachment, the minister pointed out.
The Cabinet decided to raise the minimum educational qualification for the posts of second division clerks to II PU and that for group ‘D’ posts to SSLC. Earlier, the minimum qualification for second division clerks was SSLC and for group ‘D’ posts was seventh standard.
Textile policy
The Cabinet cleared State Textile Policy 2013-18, which proposes to encourage employment generation through setting up new garment factories in the State. It also proposes to revive the spinning mill industry by making available long-staple cotton to the factories.
The government proposes to spend Rs 1,000 crore in the textile sector in the next five years.
Tender SURE roads
The Cabinet also decided to allow Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to take up upgradation of seven roads in Bangalore central district under the Tender SURE (Specifications for Urban Road Execution) Scheme, at a cost of Rs 78.83 crore.
The roads include St Marks Road, Museum Road, Richmond Road, Mallya Hospital Road, Residency Road, Cunningham Road and Commissionerate Road.
