Rain lashes Cauvery basin

Several parts of Mysore, Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajanagar districts received heavy rains on Monday.

The Indian Meteorological Department attributed the rain to depression in Bay of Bengal. In Mysore district, Naganahalli near Mysore city recorded the highest rainfall, 16 mm, by 7 pm, while in Mandya district, Pandavapur received 29.5 mm, Maddur-15 mm and Halagur-11.5 mm.

In Hassan, though overcast conditions prevailed, it only drizzled, while Sakleshpur recorded 3 mm of rainfall by 7 pm. Light to heavy rains were reported in Chamarajanagar district where Yalandur received the maximum of 28 mm, followed by Chamarajanagar city - 19 mm and Male Mahadeshwara Hills 13.5 mm.
