Winter session may be postponed

After the State cabinet took the decision on holding the session, the Election Commission of India announced calendar of events for polls to 25 council seats, which will fall vacant in January 2010. The election is scheduled on December 18.

However, the Governor has already issued the notification on holding the session on November 17.

According to official sources, the Government will not be able to make announcements or assurances on the floor of the house as the model code of conduct will be in force.
