'Govt serious on protecting lakes'

District in- charge and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said on Wednesday that the government is serious about protecting all the water bodies in the City.

Speaking after launching the rejuvenation work of Byrasandra Lake in Siddapura ward, the minister said that the Bangalore Development Authority has taken up the task at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. He said the lake would be developed on a par with any other important water body so as to attract winged guests as well.

He said the State government has decided to constitute a Tank Development Authority with the sole purpose of developing lakes in the City.
