Varsha, Vidya stay on course

 National champion Vidya Pillai and teenager Varsha Sanjeev maintained their unbeaten record in the preliminary league of the ongoing IBSF World Snooker Championship here.

Vidya defeated Diana Schuler from Germany 3-0 for her third win in Group B while 17-year-old Varsha overcame France’s Linda Lassant 3-1 to record her second success in Group F that also includes double World Champion Ng On Yee from Hong Kong, who underlined her form with a run of 104.

Two other women Indian cueists, Neena Praveen and Chitra Magimairajan, however, lost their respective group matches.

Results (Indians only): Men: Shahbaaz Adil Khan bt Timo Salovaara 4-2 (50-73, 69-23, 72-5, 10-89, 55-42, 64-22); Brijesh Damani lt to Mathew Bolton 2-4 (20-66, 63-34, 81-4, 42-63, 37-53, 27-65).

Women: Neena Praveen lt to Kathy Parashis 1-3 (39-47, 45-53, 64-45, 20-48); Varsha Sanjeev bt Linda Lassant 3-2 (48-12, 58-17, 32-70, 40-45, 68-33).
