A 28-year-old taxi driver was shot at by two armed assailants following a heated argument over parking at Income Tax Office near Delhi Police Headquarters in Central Delhi on Sunday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Tammy, a resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. He was rushed to a nearby Lok Nayak Hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger.
Police said that the incident took place at around 1 pm on a service road when Tammy came to park his taxi.
However, a heated argument ensued between him and one Aamir, who is also said to be a taxi driver. “The argument soon turned ugly with Aamir’s brother joining the altercation to corner Tammy. As the onlookers were about to intervene and mollify the trio, Aamir whipped out a pistol, fired a bullet at Tammy and fled the crime scene along with his brother,” said the police.
Immediately, police were informed after which the victim, who had sustained a single shot of bullet on his shoulder, was rushed to the hospital.
Police said that they have registered a case under relevant provisions including that of 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code with I P Estate police station over the statement of Tammy against the accused who are absconding. A manhunt has been formed to nab them.
The investigating sleuths said that the accused, Aamir and his brother, who is yet to be identified, live in Kamla Market area.
