Last Updated 03 December 2013, 21:02 IST

Setting the tone for the Lok Sabha polls next year, the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and arch rival and the opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) are all set for a face off in Yercaud by-poll on Wednesday.

The by-poll, at the hill station constituency in Salem district, around 350 km from here, assumes significance as a victory here would come as a psychological boost to any party before the general elections.

A larger margin of victory for the AIADMK could definitely come as a morale booster and the party could contemplate fighting it alone in the Parliamentary elections.

“My desire is that the success in Yercaud constituency should be a trendsetter for AIADMK to emerge victorious in the Lok Sabha elections and to make revolutionary changes in India,” Jayalalitha recently said.
