For foodies residing near Vyalikaval, ‘Hotel Ayodhya Upahar’ is a must try. Owned by B Naveen Shetty, who started the eatery a few months ago, it offers clean, fresh food that is tasty and filling.

Run by 20 staff members, the outlet has a chaat counter, milkshake counter, coffee counter and the main food counter, where one can try a variety of South Indian, North Indian and Chinese items.

“Our most popular items are neer dosa, rava idli, pineapple dosa and the different types of bath that we serve each day. The flavours are very unique and we give our customers the option of trying different special items everyday for lunch and dinner. For example, we might offer capsicum rice for lunch and kesari bath for dinner,” explains Naveen. He adds, “We also have a South Indian meal costing Rs 45 in which one gets a sweet, poori, rice, sambar, rasam, curd, pickle, papad and sagoo. Another popular option is the North Indian tandoori roti with two sabji, which can range from rajma to chana to bhindi masala and changes every day of the week.”

However, those who are keen on having the Chinese items, chaat and special variety dosas need to plan a trip to the eatery only after 4 pm. The busiest time of the day for the eatery is from 8 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 4 pm.

The owner adds that though a majority of customers are South Indian many of them opt for the North Indian and Chinese dishes. “We usually get families and professionals, who come from offices in Yeshwantpur, Dollars Colony, Mekhri Circle, Rajajinagar and Malleswaram to eat here. The manchurian items, noodles and fried rice are popular in Chinese, while in chaat, most people go for the dahi puri and pav bhaji,” he says.

When asked about the USP of the place, Naveen notes, “The location, quality, quantity, affordability and cleanliness are why the place is doing so well. We have tried to maintain that from the start and are very happy with the way things are going.”

‘Hotel Ayodhya Upahar’ is located in Vyalikaval, opposite the police station and is open from 7 am to 11 pm. For details, call 9900644644.
