Here is a crime drama that thrills and keeps one on the edge of the seat. Ganesh Vinaayak’s neat narrative and sizzing script do the trick. As bonus comes its clever twist. Of course, taking audience through byzantine twists and turns, the film, has them in its thrall, tethering up all ends towards denouement. The film revolves around four orphans Saravanan, Pazhani, Senthil, Aarumugam, bosom buddies and thieves to boot, who don’t bat an eye when it comes to money . Sarvanan, the youngest, is bold of the lot, who woos Meenakshi, the only daughter of local moneylender and toughie Kanthuvatti Rajendran. Despite his pals warning to stay away lest it impinge on their trade and friendship, he does not care a whit. How this leads to resultant situations forms the fulcrum of Thagaraaru. Thanks to ensemble performances, snazzy camera work, slick editing, deft direction by Vinaayak, while it sizzles, what, however, makes the experience a bit deja vu is, it reminds Subramaniapuram and a slew of Madurai films. Despite the fussy title, the film is worth a watch. Go for it.
