A perfect place for a quick bite, ‘Sinchu 99 Variety Dosas’ tucked away in the residential area of Malleswaram is a joint that is sure to satiate all those ‘dosa’ cravings of yours. As the name suggests, the place offers 99 different kinds of dosas. Right from the regular plain dosa to cheese masala dosa, sweet corn cauliflower paneer cheese dosa, paneer palak dosa and paneer cheese Mysore Masala Dosa, the options are numerous. You name it and they have got it. And the best part is it’s friendly on the pocket.

Chetan Gowda, who runs the place, says he picked up his techniques from Mumbai. “I lived there for a long time and learnt the tricks of the trade from there. I thought it would help me offer something new over here,” he explains. Chetan, who has three others working with him, says they begin the preparations at 11 am. “We ensure that everything we sell is fresh which means we have to procure the items early on. Although we open the place at 3 pm, there is a lot of groundwork that goes on during the morning,” he adds. According to Chetan, it’s mainly families that come to the joint. “Although we are located close to schools and colleges, we find many families coming here as Malleswaram is a residential area,” he adds.

The dosas range in the price of Rs 20 and Rs 60 and Chetan says this is their unique selling proposition. “We want to keep our prices reasonable as the prices of vegetables are on the rise. It is a slight crunch but we don’t want to hike the prices as we feel our low price is the reason we have been able to attract so many customers.”

The place sells anywhere between 250 and 300 dosas on a daily basis. “We are happy as long as our customers are happy. And the feedback we have been receiving is encouraging,” he says. With the variety of dosas they offer, Chetan says that at the moment, they don’t plan to add any more items to the menu.

Dinesh, a customer, says, “It’s the first time that I’m tasting the food here and it’s really good. I tasted some of the special varieties they offer. Since I work around the area, I thought of giving this place a try.”

Says Raj, a customer who frequents the place often, “The dosas here are crispy and served right from the pan to the plate. I just love the taste.” He adds, “I have visited the place twice before and find it hygienic, which is important to me.”

The eatery is located at 9th Cross, 5th Main, Malleswaram and is open between 3 pm and 10 pm.
