Elderly woman found murdered

A woman was found dead mysteriously at her residence in Siddapura police station limits on Saturday.

Pushpa, 61, was found lying in a pool of blood by Saroja, the domestic help who came to the house around 4.30 pm. There were cut injuries on her abdomen and neck, police said.

Saroja rushed to alert Pushpa’s daughter-in-law, Sridevi and granddaughter who were sleeping in the room.

Surprisingly, they claimed that they had not heard any noise and were shocked to see Pushpa murdered while they were sleeping in the bedroom. The neighbours too told the police and they did not hear any noise and were clueless about the murder. Police said that Pushpa’s husband and son had gone together to a nearby shop when the murder took place.

Jewellery intact

They said that a cup and a plate were lying in the hall near the woman’s body. The jewellery Pushpa wore was in tact and no valuables were missing, a senior police official said.

“The main door of the house is made of glass with a steel frame and the door is usually kept bolted. The family members would ensure that they knew the person before allowing anyone to enter the house. However, the domestic help found the doors ajar when she came into the house,” the police official said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Revanna, who visited the spot along with Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Kamal Pant, said that the family hails from Trichy in Tamil Nadu and was living in the rented house for more than eight years. An officer attached to Siddapura police station said family feud could be a motive for the murder. It is also suspected that the killer might be someone from their family residing in Trichy.
