The process of distribution of sites at S M Krishna layout, just five kilometres away from the city will begin soon. Many have submitted applications seeking sites even though it is far from the city.

But Satyamangala layout which was formed by the Housing Board fifteen years ago, which is very near to the city has been left undeveloped since the past one-and-half decades. The land which cost around a few rupees per sqft has now skyrocketed to Rs 900 to Rs 1,200 per sqft.

Price escalation

Though the land price has increased, the layout has not seen any development, as no site owner has shown interest in constructing a house in the area. Complaints was received from Channapatna layout near the new bus stand. Only those who already posses several sites, and people from other districts are purchasing these sites.

Those who are willing to construct a house of their own still find the site rates unaffordable.Farmer Manju, who had lost his agricultural lands when the Housing Board acquired lands said that though the layout had all the facilities like drain, water tank, power connection and others, no one has taken up any constructions. The farmers were compensated with Rs one lakh per acre and a site of 30x40 dimension. There are also complaints of illegal activities going on in the area during night.
