It was a proud moment for all the ex-students of HKBK College of Engineering to meet their old friends and greet their faculty members. The sixth alumni meet was held on the campus recently. More than 250 ex-students took part in the annual meet. Looking back at the good-old college days, some of the ex-students addressed the gathering.

The event began with the college administrator welcoming the students and ex-students. He emphasised the importance of college days and recalled the achievements of the college in this academic year. Next, it was time for the guest speakers to take the stage.

Gopal Gowda, an ex-student who was also one the guest speakers, spoke to the students about the importance of studies and its consequences. Speaking about the meet, the DRDO scientist recalled how the college had changed over the years.

Gopal said, “I have come to the college after eight long years and it feels
wonderful to be on campus. So many things like the infrastructure and facilities have changed. It is also interesting to notice that the college management has come up with many new initiatives for students and they try to involve students actively. It is a very good feeling to see your batchmates after such a long gap. Altogether, it is a good day.”

The ex-students also had a panel discussion and decided to come up with various workshops and seminars for the benefit of the students. Gopal said, “Many students go outside the college and pay extra fee to pursue additional courses. Since we’ve been professionals for almost a decade, we thought why not help the students ourselves. A plan to introduce workshops through the alumni group is being discussed.”

The students were motivated to follow their dreams.

Arham Faraz, an ex-student who is now an author, addressed the students. He spoke to them about the importance of self-leadership and how to be successful in whatever one does.

He said, “I was in the IT industry for almost 10 years and then, I decided to follow my passion. I quit my job to become an author. Today, I am very happy with what  I am doing and I suggest the students the same.” He also told them to realise their dreams and work towards it. Some of the accomplished ex-students were felicitated on the occasion.
