CM to inaugurate Sahitya Sammelana on January 7

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate 80th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, the annual literary festival, at Madikeri on January 7.

Chairman of the Sammelana Dr Na D’Souza will be brought in a procession from Gandhi Maidan to the venue at KM Cariappa College Grounds at 9 am on the first day of the three-day event, according to a press release.

The inaugural ceremony on the dais named after litterateur Bharatisuta, at the main venue ‘I M Muttanna Mahamantapa’, will be attended by seers Siddharama Swami of Naganur Rudrakshi mutt, Belgaum, and Shantamallikarjuna Swami of Arameri Kalancheri mutt in Virajpet, besides ministers Dr H C Mahadevappa, K J George, Umashri and Dinesh Gundurao, Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pundalik Halambi, legislators K G Bopanna, Appacchu Ranjan, M C Nanaiah, and T John.

Union Minister M Veerappa Moily will release the souvenir and  seminars on language, literature and other issues, will be held in various sessions  spread across the three days.
