JOIN USTransport officials have found that more than 80 per cent of private vehicles plying on the roads violating the Motor Vehicles Act.
Following the mishap on Saturday, a special drive was taken up to check the mechanical and physical condition of private vehicles in the city. About 35 vehicles were subjected to inspection and it was found that the vehicles had violated norms pertaining to the Act.

The Transport department cancelled the Fitness Certificate (FC) of 10 private vehicles and the remaining 25 vehicles were let out with a warning to rectify the faults within 10 days.
The drive was carried out on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner B N Krishnaiah, Superintendent of Police Bushan Borase. Speaking to Deccan Herald, Mandya District RTO K Anwar Pasha said that 10 vehicles were found with severe technical snags like problems in steering and others.
Hence, FC’s of the vehicles have been cancelled. The vehicles will not be allowed to ply unless all the problems are rectified, he added.
Minor problems were found in 25 vehicles like bald tyres, no reflexers and indicators. Stern action would be taken against those who fail to adhere to the norms, he said.
Similar drive has been suggested to be taken up at Nagamangala, Krishnarajapet routes, Anwar Pasha said.
