Nursery admission helpline launched

Last Updated 07 January 2014, 21:36 IST

Streamlining the nursery admission process for the academic session 2014-15, the Directorate of Education has launched a helpline on Tuesday for parents to register their complaints if schools are flouting the new guidelines.

They can contact the office of the education minister on 011 27352525. The DoE has also ordered all education officers to get a flex board fixed with their names and numbers at the entrance of the schools falling in their zone.

“The education officers should ensure that grievances of parents are redressed in time,” the order states. “Education officers of all zones are directed to get a flex board fixed at the main entrance of each unaided private recognised school falling in their jurisdiction displaying their landline and mobile numbers,” the order says.

The step has been taken to crackdown on schools flouting the new guidelines. The DoE has issued showcause notices to schools found flouting the guidelines on Saturday last.

The guidelines were finalised by the Lieutenant Governor Naseeb Jung in December 18 order, who was asked by the Delhi High Court to look into the matter after a petition saying that the guidelines were not in accordance with the Right to Education Act.
