Addressing a press conference, he said: “This is our solemn duty. We have taken up the matter with all the force at our command with the government of Pakistan. We expect the masterminds of the attack and their supporters to be tried and punished.”

Reaching out to the innocent victims of the barbaric acts, he said: “I wish to reassure the nation that strengthening internal security is the top priority of the government, and we will leave no stone unturned to safeguard and protect the lives of our citizens.”

As part of the anti-terror measures, India and the US on Tuesday agreed to strengthen bilateral anti-terrorism co-operation, which, among others, would include higher levels of information and intelligence-sharing.

India has also pressed the US to prevail upon Islamabad to act against terrorists involved in the Mumbai attacks.

Singh made it clear to the American leaders that there was no question of resuming dialogue with Pakistan until it took credible action against the perpetrators of the crime.
“This is the day of remembrance and of paying homage to all the innocent civilians and our brave men in uniform who lost their lives in one of the worst terrorist attacks our country has ever seen. On behalf of the nation, I would like to send a message to each and every one of their families that we share their grief with a very heavy heart,” he said.
