The principal of a private school allegedly raped the attender on the institution’s premises on Thursday night.

The Sampigehalli police have booked Srinivas, aged about 40, the principal-cum-owner of a private school in Ashwathnagar, Sampigehalli, for raping the 23-year-old attender. He fled the school after the news spread and the victim lodged a complaint against him on Friday, said the police.

“The alleged incident occurred on Thursday night, but the victim disclosed it late on Friday afternoon. The police booked him and launched a manhunt after the complaint,” DCP (North East) H T Suresh said.

According to the victim,  Srinivas sneaked into her room when her husband and two children were away. She made efforts to resist his advances, but he overpowered and raped her. He fled after committing the act, she claimed.

She took ill after the incident and fell unconscious on Friday morning. When asked, she told her husband that Srinivas had come to the room and beat her up for some reason.

A few of her colleagues took her to a nearby hospital where she was treated on Friday afternoon. On returning to the school and on being pressed to disclose the cause for her sudden ill health, she told a few female teachers that she was raped by Srinivas.

The victim finally lodged a complaint with the police on Friday evening and police immediately booked Srinivas.

The victim was sent for a medical examination. Whether she was raped would be confirmed only after the report came, a senior officer said.

The victim, a native of Haveri district, had come to the City six months ago for livelihood. The school management allotted the couple accommodation on the campus, police said.

Police arrested the bar owner, Rahul D, 29, and workers Ismail Shariff, 28 and Lokesh, 25. Investigations revealed that Rahul had lured girls from poor families in the City and Mumbai, and employed them as bar girls.

Police sources said he provided them accommodation in Venkataswamy Reddy Layout, Koramangala 8th Block.
